Nehemiah Persoff is an American actor who appeared in the film Twins (1988). He emigrated from Palestine to the United States in 1929 and developed an interest in acting during the 1940s. After serving in the Army during World War II, he pursued a career in the New York Theater and joined the Actor's Studio in 1947. His notable film roles include On the Waterfront (1954), Some Like It Hot (1959), and Yentl (1983), where he played Barbra Streisand's character's father. In addition to his film work, Persoff had a prolific television career, featuring in series such as The Twilight Zone and Mission: Impossible. He later took up painting, focusing on watercolours, as health issues limited his acting engagements.
