Nancy Kwan is a Hong Kong-born American actress who gained prominence through her roles in The World of Suzie Wong (1960) and Flower Drum Song (1961), both significant for featuring Asian actors in leading parts. Her distinctive 'oriental' style and signature bob haircut shaped her image as an exotic figure in Hollywood. Kwan has been involved in philanthropy, particularly in raising awareness for AIDS, following the tragic loss of her son to the disease. In 1997, she authored a book dedicated to her son, with proceeds aimed at supporting AIDS awareness initiatives. Kwan appeared in Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (1993).
