Mohanlal is an Indian actor who made his film debut in the unreleased Thiranottam (1978). He gained prominence as a lead actor with his role in Manjil Virinja Pookkal (1980), portraying a significant antagonist. He became a superstar of Malayalam cinema following the success of Rajavinte Makan (1986). His notable works include Iruvar (1997), Company (2002), and Drishyam (2013), among others. He received the Padma Shri in 2001 and has won multiple National Film Awards. Mohanlal also holds the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army of India.
