Mikael Persbrandt is a Swedish actor who starred in the Academy Award-winning film In a Better World. He gained recognition for his portrayal of Gunvald Larsson in the Beck film series. His other notable roles include Carl Hamilton in adaptations of Jan Guillou's novels and Beorn in The Hobbit. Persbrandt has also appeared in the English series Sex Education as Jakob Nyman. He has received the Guldbagge Award for Best Actor twice, first in 2009 for Everlasting Moments and again in 2014 for Nobody Owns Me. He played a leading role in The Salvation (2014).
