Mickey Rooney was an American actor who portrayed Andy Hardy in a series of 16 films during the 1930s and 1940s. His career spanned nine decades, beginning with his film debut at the age of six. Rooney gained acclaim for his role as Puck in the 1935 adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream, which was described as "one of the cinema's most arresting pieces of magic". He received an Oscar nomination for his leading role in Babes in Arms (1939) and won a special Academy Juvenile Award that same year. Notable later works include Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961), Requiem for a Heavyweight (1962), and The Black Stallion (1979).
