Mickey Hargitay was a Hungarian-American actor and bodybuilder who won the Mr. Universe title in 1955. He immigrated to the United States in 1947 and became a naturalized citizen. Hargitay's transition to acting was facilitated by his success in bodybuilding, leading to a prominent career in film. He appeared in several notable films, including Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? (1957), The Loves of Hercules (1960), and Promises! Promises! (1963). Hargitay was married to actress Jayne Mansfield, with whom he collaborated on multiple projects. He is also the father of actress Mariska Hargitay, whom he raised as his own child.
