Michael Collins is a former American astronaut who served as the command module pilot for Apollo 11 (1969). He participated in two spaceflights, including Gemini 10, where he conducted two extravehicular activities. Before his career at NASA, Collins was a test pilot and attended the United States Military Academy, later joining the U.S. Air Force. After retiring from NASA, he worked as the Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs and later directed the National Air and Space Museum. He appeared in the documentary Apollo 11 (2019).
