Melissa Barrera is a Mexican actress who gained prominence for her role as Sam Carpenter in the slasher films Scream (2022) and Scream VI (2023). She began her career in Mexican telenovelas, portraying characters such as Olvido Pérez in Siempre tuya Acapulco (2014) and Mía González in Tanto amor (2015). Barrera made her Hollywood debut in the Starz series Vida (2018–2020), where she played Lyn Hernandez. She has also starred in the horror-comedies Abigail and Your Monster, both set for release in 2024. Barrera is a three-time Imagen Award nominee and received a Satellite Award nomination for her role in the film In the Heights (2021).
