Maximilian Schell is a Swiss actor who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as a lawyer in Judgment at Nuremberg (1961). He was nominated for Oscars for his performances in The Man in the Glass Booth (1975) and Julia (1977). Schell appeared in notable films such as Topkapi (1964), The Odessa File (1974), and Deep Impact (1998). He also received Primetime Emmy nominations for Miss Rose White and Stalin (1992), the latter winning him a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor. A skilled pianist and conductor, Schell performed with renowned orchestras and produced the documentary My Sister Maria in 2002.
