Matthew Gray Gubler is an American actor who portrayed Dr. Spencer Reid in the CBS series Criminal Minds (2005–present). He has directed ten episodes of the show and has appeared in various films, including The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004), (500) Days of Summer (2009), and Life After Beth (2014). Gubler also voiced Simon in the Alvin and the Chipmunks franchise. In the film Excision (2012), he delivered a notable performance.
