Matthew Robert Smith is an English actor who played the Eleventh Doctor in the BBC series Doctor Who (2010–2013). He gained recognition for his portrayal of Prince Philip in Netflix's The Crown (2016–2017), earning a Primetime Emmy Award nomination. Smith's film credits include a dual role in Womb (2010), the physical forms of Skynet in Terminator Genisys (2015), and a 1960s pimp in Last Night in Soho (2021). He also stars as Daemon Targaryen in HBO's House of the Dragon (2022). Smith began his acting career in 2003 after studying drama and creative writing, and he has performed in various London theatre productions.
