Mary Alice is an actress who was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 2000. She appeared in notable films such as Awakenings (1990), Malcolm X (1992), and The Matrix Revolutions (2003). Before her acting career flourished, she taught in elementary school and supported herself by doing laundry for fellow cast members. A lifelong advocate for liberal causes, she was also a feminist and civil rights activist. Mary Alice retired from acting in 2005.
