Martin Sheen is an American actor who first gained prominence for his role as Kit Carruthers in Badlands (1973). He is known for his performance as Captain Benjamin Willard in Apocalypse Now (1979) and as U.S. President Josiah Bartlet in the television series The West Wing (1999–2006). Sheen's film credits include notable works such as Catch Me If You Can (2002), Spawn (1997), O (2001), and 12 Mighty Orphans (2021). He has received a Best Actor award at the San Sebastián International Film Festival and a Golden Globe for his role in The West Wing. Sheen has also directed the film Cadence (1990).
