Martin Landau was an American actor who won an Academy Award for his portrayal of Bela Lugosi in Ed Wood (1994). His career commenced in the 1950s, with notable appearances including a supporting role in Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest (1959). Landau gained recognition for his television roles in Mission: Impossible, earning several Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe Award, and in Space: 1999. He received his first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Tucker: The Man and His Dream (1988), followed by another nomination for Woody Allen's Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989). Landau's work in Sliver (1993) further demonstrated his extensive acting range.
