Mark Patton is an American interior designer and former actor who played Jesse Walsh in A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985). He began his acting career in New York City, landing the role of Joe Qualley in the Broadway production of Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, which he reprised in the film adaptation the same year. Following his prominent role in the horror genre, Patton stepped back from acting due to the homophobia he experienced in Hollywood. After overcoming personal struggles, including a battle with HIV, he relocated to Mexico and has since shared his life experiences through various projects, including the documentary There is no Jesse. Patton is recognized as mainstream cinema's first male "scream queen."
