Mahershala Ali is an American actor who won two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor, making him the first Black actor to achieve this feat in the same category. He began his career with television roles in Crossing Jordan and Threat Matrix, gaining prominence with his performance as Richard Tyler in The 4400. His film debut came in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008), followed by significant roles in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (2014) and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 (2015). In addition to his film work, he starred in the HBO series True Detective and voiced Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018). Ali won a Primetime Emmy Award for producing We Are the Dream: The Kids of the Oakland MLK Oratorical Fest (2020).
