Leslie Uggams is an American actress and singer who portrayed Kizzy Reynolds in the television miniseries Roots (1977). She began her career as a child in the early 1950s and gained significant recognition for her role in the Broadway musical Hallelujah, Baby!, where she won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical in 1968. Uggams later appeared alongside Ryan Reynolds as Blind Al in Deadpool (2016) and its sequel Deadpool 2 (2018), and she also had a recurring role on the series Empire. Her performance in Roots earned her nominations for both a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award.
