Leonard Nimoy is an American actor who portrayed Spock in the original Star Trek series from 1966 to 1969. He began his career in his twenties, appearing in minor roles in film and television throughout the 1950s, and played the title character in Kid Monk Baroni. His portrayal of Spock earned him three Emmy Award nominations and a place on TV Guide's list of the 50 greatest TV characters. In addition to his role, Nimoy had a recurring part in Mission: Impossible and narrated Civilization IV. He also directed films and authored two autobiographies, I Am Not Spock and I Am Spock. Nimoy's legacy includes his role in Star Trek (2009).
