Lena Waithe is an American actress, producer, and screenwriter who created the Showtime series The Chi (2018–present). She gained prominence for her performance in the Netflix series Master of None (2015–2021), where she became the first African-American woman to win a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series in 2017. Waithe has also worked on the crime film Queen & Slim (2019) and was an executive producer for the horror anthology series Them (2021–present). In addition to her television work, she appeared in Steven Spielberg's adventure film Ready Player One (2018). In 2023, she received a nomination for Best Play at the 76th Tony Awards for her production of Ain't No Mo'.
