Lee Van Cleef is an American actor who played the role of Angel Eyes in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966). He made his film debut in High Noon (1952), where he was cast as a non-speaking outlaw due to his refusal to alter his nose for a more sympathetic appearance. After being typecast as a minor villain for many years, his career experienced a resurgence when Sergio Leone cast him in For a Few Dollars More (1965), which established him as a prominent box-office draw in Europe. Despite battling heart disease and having a pacemaker, Van Cleef remained active in the film industry until his passing in 1989. His grave marker humorously notes his legacy as a performer, stating "BEST OF THE BAD."
