Lee Marvin is an American actor who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his dual roles in Cat Ballou (1965). Initially seen in supporting parts, he often portrayed tough characters, including Rico Fardan in The Professionals (1966) and Major John Reisman in The Dirty Dozen (1967). Marvin gained fame for his distinctive voice and white hair, and he starred in notable films such as The Killers (1964), Point Blank (1967), and The Big Red One (1980). His prominent television role was as Detective Lieutenant Frank Ballinger in M Squad (1957–1960). Marvin's performance in Cat Ballou also earned him a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award, and the Silver Bear for Best Actor.
