Lawrence Kasdan is an American filmmaker who co-wrote the Star Wars films The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983). He has also penned notable screenplays for Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and The Bodyguard (1992). As a director, his works include Body Heat (1981), The Big Chill (1983), and Silverado (1985).
