Lau Kar-leung was a Hong Kong-based Chinese filmmaker and martial artist who directed The 36th Chamber of Shaolin (1978). He created a significant body of work for the Shaw Brothers Studio during the 1970s and 1980s, including notable titles such as Return to the 36th Chamber (1980) and Disciples of the 36th Chamber (1985). He directed Drunken Master II, which featured Jackie Chan. Lau Kar-leung's influence on the genre is marked by his innovative choreography and storytelling.
