Kris Wu is a Chinese-Canadian former singer and actor who made his film debut in the science fiction film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017). He was previously a member of the boy band EXO and its sub-group EXO-M before departing in 2014. Wu's career took a drastic turn when he was detained by Beijing police in July 2021 following multiple allegations of sexual assault. In November 2022, he was sentenced to 13 years in prison for these offenses and faced a substantial fine for tax evasion.
