Kinya Kitaoji is a Japanese actor who made his debut in the 1956 film Oyakodaka, portraying Katsu Kaishū. He has worked extensively in both film and television, including significant roles in the 'Battles Without Honor and Humanity' series and the title character in the long-running show Zenigata Heiji. Kitaoji has also portrayed historical figures such as Sakamoto Ryōma in the NHK Taiga drama Ryōma ga Yuku and Miyamoto Musashi in various adaptations. His performance in the 1975 film Takehisa Yumeji is noteworthy, along with his role in the psychological thriller The Incite Mill. Kitaoji received the best actor award at the 10th Hochi Film Award for his performances in Fire Festival and Haru no kane.
