Kim Jong-nam was the eldest son of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il and was once viewed as the heir apparent from 1994 to 2001. He became an occasional critic of the regime after his exile from North Korea around 2003. Kim Jong-nam's film career includes a role in 'Assassins' (2021). His life ended tragically when he was assassinated in Malaysia on February 13, 2017, using the nerve agent VX.
