Keye Luke was the first Chinese-American contract player signed by major studios such as RKO, Universal Pictures, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. He portrayed Lee Chan, the "Number One Son" in the Charlie Chan film series, and was the original Kato in the Green Hornet serials from 1939 to 1941. Luke lent his voice to Brak in the 1960s Space Ghost cartoons and played Master Po in the television series Kung Fu. He also appeared as Mr. Wing in the Gremlins films. Luke's contributions significantly shaped the representation of Asian actors in American cinema during the mid-twentieth century.
