Kenneth Branagh is a British actor and filmmaker who directed and starred in the film adaptations of several William Shakespeare's plays, including Henry V (1989) and Hamlet (1996). He has received numerous accolades, including an Academy Award, four BAFTAs, and two Emmy Awards. Branagh appeared in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Thor (2011), and Belfast (2021), the latter of which earned him nominations for Best Picture and Director at the Academy Awards. He also portrayed Hercule Poirot in the film series that began with Murder on the Orient Express (2017). In 2012, he was appointed a Knight Bachelor.
