Katharine McPhee is an American pop singer, songwriter, and actress who gained fame as the runner-up on the fifth season of American Idol. She made her film debut in The House Bunny (2008) and has appeared in other films such as Shark Night 3D and The Tiger Rising (2022). On television, she starred as Karen Cartwright in the NBC series Smash and as Paige Dineen in CBS's Scorpion. McPhee also made her Broadway debut in the musical Waitress, taking on the role of Jenna in both 2018 and 2019-2020. She released her first album in 2007, which debuted at number two on the Billboard 200.
