Karl Malden is a Serbian-American actor who won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in A Streetcar Named Desire (1951). Over his extensive career, he portrayed memorable characters in films such as On the Waterfront (1954), Pollyanna (1960), and One-Eyed Jacks (1961). Malden's filmography also includes notable titles like Baby Doll (1956), The Hanging Tree (1959), and Patton (1970). He gained further recognition for his role as Lt. Mike Stone in the television series The Streets of San Francisco from 1972 to 1977. Malden served as President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences from 1989 to 1992.
