Jyothika is an Indian actress who debuted in the Hindi film Doli Saja Ke Rakhna. She has performed in Tamil cinema, with significant roles in films such as Vaali (1999), Kushi (2000), and Mozhi (2007). Jyothika portrayed a blind woman in Perazhagan and a mute girl in Mozhi. After her marriage to actor Suriya, she took a break from acting; they collaborated on seven films. She made a return in 36 Vayadhinile (2015), earning the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress, making her the first actress to achieve both the Filmfare Award for Best Actress - Tamil and the Critics Award for Best Actress.
