Jürgen Prochnow is a German-American actor who gained international fame for his role as U-boat Commander "Der Alte" in the 1981 film Das Boot. He has appeared in notable films such as The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum (1975), Dune (1984), and The English Patient (1996). Prochnow's filmography includes performances in Beverly Hills Cop II (1987), Air Force One (1997), and The Da Vinci Code (2006). He has received several accolades, including the Goldene Kamera and the Bavarian Film Awards. Prochnow played Sergei Bazhaev in the eighth season of 24 (2010).
