John Shrapnel is a British actor who portrayed Senator Gaius in Gladiator (2000). He has a rich background in stage acting, having been part of Laurence Olivier's Royal National Theatre company and the Royal Shakespeare Company. Shrapnel's film credits include roles in The Body (2001) and Mirrors (2008), as well as appearances in notable television series such as Inspector Morse and Notting Hill. He starred in the miniseries The 10th Kingdom. Shrapnel is married to Francesca Ann Bartley, daughter of actress Deborah Kerr, and they have three sons, including actors Lex and Tom Shrapnel.
