John Junkin was an English actor and scriptwriter who played the lead in the original production of Sparrers Can't Sing. He began his career in 1960 with Joan Littlewood's Stratford East Theatre Workshop and later became a member of the Royal Court Theatre company. Junkin collaborated with Tony Hancock in some of his final television projects. He featured in The Football Factory (2004). Junkin passed away in 2006 due to lung cancer.
