John James is an American actor who played Jeff Colby in the television series Dynasty and its spin-off The Colbys during the 1980s. He began his career in daytime soaps, making his debut in Search for Tomorrow in the late 1970s. James gained significant recognition for his role in Dynasty, appearing from the first episode in 1981 until the series concluded in 1989, and reprised the role in the 1991 TV movie Dynasty: The Reunion. His film credits include Icebreaker (2000), Lightning: Fire from the Sky (2001), and Chronology (2002). He produced and starred in Illegal Aliens (2007) and is featured in Axcellerator (2019). James was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his work in Dynasty in 1985.
