John Houseman was a Romanian-born British-American actor and film producer who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as Professor Charles Kingsfield in The Paper Chase (1973). His collaboration with director Orson Welles began during the Federal Theatre Project and continued through the production of Citizen Kane. Houseman also reprised his role as Kingsfield in the television adaptation of The Paper Chase. Houseman appeared in The Cheap Detective (1978).
