John Getz is an American actor who starred as the doomed lover in Blood Simple (1984), a neo-noir thriller by the Coen Brothers. He began his career in theater after dropping out of college to study at the American Conservatory Theater. Getz made his television debut in the horror film Killer Bees and later appeared as Stathis Borans in The Fly (1986) and its sequel. His filmography includes appearances in The Happy Hooker (1975), Born on the Fourth of July (1989), and Zodiac (2007). Getz also appeared in The Social Network (2010), which depicts the founding of Facebook. He has guest-starred in numerous TV series, including Homeland and How I Met Your Mother.
