John Connors is the first Irish Traveller (Minceir) director and an Irish actor who gained prominence for his role as Patrick Ward in the series Love/Hate. His directorial debut came in 2016 with John Connors, The Travellers, which won the IFTA for best documentary series in 2018. Connors also won the best actor award at the same ceremony for his performance in Cardboard Gangsters. He co-wrote and directed Innocent Boy, which received a special mention at VMDIFF 2020 and achieved success on the international film festival circuit. His documentary Endless Sunshine on a Cloudy Day won the Audience Award at the Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival in 2020. In September 2022, his feature debut drama The Black Guelph won best film at the Oldenburg International Film Festival.
