John Carty is an Irish musician who played in 'The Banshees of Inisherin' (2022). Renowned as one of Ireland's finest traditional musicians, he specializes in fiddle, tenor banjo, tenor guitar, and occasionally the flute, with a strong interest in the North Connacht traditional music style. His debut fiddle album, 'Last Night's Fun,' released in 1996, is regarded as a significant contribution to recorded fiddle music. In 2003, he received the Traditional Musician of the Year award from TG4, joining the ranks of notable past winners. Carty has collaborated with various artists and bands, including At the Racket and Patrick Street. He has also appeared as a musician in films such as 'Jimmy's Hall' (2014) and 'Brooklyn' (2015).
