John Abbott was an English character actor who made his film debut in Mademoiselle Docteur (1937). He gained recognition for his roles in various films, including The Woman in White (1948), where he portrayed Frederick Fairlie, and the Star Trek episode "Errand of Mercy" as Ayelborne. Abbott's extensive stage career included performances with the Old Vic Company and notable Shakespearean roles, such as Claudius in Hamlet alongside Laurence Olivier.
