Jill Scott is an American singer, songwriter, model, poet, and actress who made her film debut in 2007 with Hounddog and Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married?. She gained significant recognition for her role as Deidre "Dee Dee" Jenkins in the 2014 film Get on Up. In addition to her film work, Scott starred in the BBC/HBO series The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency in 2008. She also appeared as Lady Eve in the CW series Black Lightning starting in 2018. Scott's music career includes several successful albums, such as Who Is Jill Scott?: Words and Sounds Vol. 1 (2000) and The Light of the Sun (2011).
