Jewel Staite is a Canadian actress who portrayed Kaylee Frye in Firefly (2002) and its film continuation Serenity (2005). She began her acting career at the age of six and has appeared in various television series, including Stargate Atlantis as Dr. Jennifer Keller and Wonderfalls as Heidi Gotts. Staite also lent her voice to characters in animated series such as Mummies Alive! and Sabrina: The Animated Series. Additionally, she starred as Raquel Westbrook in The L.A. Complex, a Canadian drama. Staite has a chapter in the book Finding Serenity, titled 'Kaylee Speaks: Jewel Staite On Firefly.'
