Jennifer Hudson is an American singer and actress who made her film debut as Effie White in Dreamgirls (2006). She gained recognition after placing seventh on the third season of American Idol in 2004. Hudson won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Dreamgirls, becoming the youngest African-American to achieve this honor. Her notable film credits include Sex and the City (2008), The Secret Life of Bees (2008), and Respect (2021). In addition to her acting career, she has released successful albums, including her self-titled debut in 2008, which won a Grammy Award. Hudson also appeared in the films Sing (2016) and Cats (2019).
