Jeffrey Jones is an American character actor who portrayed Emperor Joseph II in Amadeus (1984). He began his career in the 1970s with various small roles in film and television. Notable performances include Edward R. Rooney in Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986), Charles Deetz in Beetlejuice (1988), and Dr. Skip Tyler in The Hunt for Red October (1990). Jones has also appeared in Stuart Little (1999) and How High (2001). His stage work includes productions like The Crucible and The Importance of Being Earnest, earning him two Tony Award nominations. He played A. W. Merrick in both Deadwood (2004–2006) and Deadwood: The Movie (2019).
