Jean-Paul Belmondo was a French actor who starred in the influential film Breathless (1960). He became a prominent figure in French cinema, particularly associated with the New Wave movement of the 1960s. Over his extensive career, he frequently portrayed police officers and criminals in action thrillers, with notable films including That Man from Rio (1964), Pierrot le Fou (1965), and The Professional (1981). Belmondo was a box-office sensation, attracting nearly 160 million viewers and starring in several of France's most popular films from 1969 to 1982. He received the César Award for Best Actor in 1989 for his role in Itinéraire d'un enfant gâté.
