Jean-Louis Trintignant is a French actor who made a critical breakthrough in And God Created Woman (1956). He is celebrated for his performances in numerous classic European films and has collaborated with renowned directors such as François Truffaut, Bernardo Bertolucci, and Michael Haneke. Trintignant gained further acclaim with roles in A Man and a Woman (1966) and The Great Silence (1968). His work in The Man Who Lies earned him the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the 1968 Berlin International Film Festival, and he won the Best Actor Award at the 1969 Cannes Film Festival for Z. In 2013, he received the César Award for Best Actor for his performance in Amour.
