J.E. Freeman is an American actor who made his film debut in An Eye for an Eye (1981). He frequently portrays tough characters and authority figures, gaining recognition for his roles as the sinister gangster Marcelles Santos in Wild at Heart (1990) and the menacing hitman Eddie Dane in Miller's Crossing (1990). Freeman also appeared in notable films such as Ruthless People (1986), Copycat (1995), and Alien Resurrection (1997). His work includes performances in Patriot Games (1992) and It Could Happen to You (1994). Freeman is openly gay and has shared his experiences related to the 1969 Stonewall riots in a published letter in 2009.
