Jan Hooks was a prominent American actress and comedian who gained recognition as a repertory player on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live from 1986 to 1991. She made notable appearances in films and television, including a role in Batman Returns (1992), as well as regular parts in Designing Women and recurring roles in 3rd Rock from the Sun and 30 Rock. Hooks also lent her voice to characters in The Simpsons.
