James Read is an American actor who played George Hazard in the North and South miniseries trilogy (1985, 1986, 1994). He began his acting career as a student at the University of Oregon, graduating in 1976, and later performed in various off-Broadway and regional theater productions, including The Denver Center Theatre Company. Read portrayed a role in the film Beaches (1988) and had a recurring part as Victor Bennett in the series Charmed. He appeared in the first season of Remington Steele and is featured in the film Love Crimes (1992). Read earned a Master's Degree in psychology from Pepperdine University in 1998.
