James Marsters is an American actor who gained fame for portraying Spike in the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off Angel from 1997 to 2004. He has also taken on notable roles in science fiction, including Brainiac in Smallville, Captain John Hart in Torchwood, and Barnabas Greeley in Caprica. In addition to his television work, Marsters appeared in the film P.S. I Love You in 2007 and played the antagonist Piccolo in Dragonball Evolution in 2009. His diverse career spans both television and film.
